DBP, BIR partner for online tax payment
November 06, 2017

DBP and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) have launched recently the BIR-DBP PayTax Online portal designed to enable individuals to pay taxes online using a secure and convenient channel.

Taxpayers with ATM card or credit card issued by any bank will now be able to pay their taxes via the web-based portal www.DBPpaytax.com powered by DBP’s Internet Payment Gateway. Taxpayers can also access it by going to the websites of DBP or BIR while payments can be made using ATM and prepaid cards of BancNet Online member banks and credit, debit and prepaid cards of Visa and Mastercard.

DBP chairman Alberto G. Romulo said the system will make it even easier for individuals to pay their taxes. “What it does is to make tax payments even more accessible as Bancnet is available 24 hours, 7 days a week while Visa and Mastercard are until 10 PM daily,” he said.

DBP president and chief executive officer Cecilia C. Borromeo, meanwhile, said that the initiative is part of the DBP and BIR’s efforts to contribute to the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ program of the Duterte administration. It will also help increase tax revenues for the government. She also said that the initiative is part of DBP’s efforts to build the digital payments infrastructure in government. “DBP is not just building the “brick-and-mortar” infrastructure such as the schools, hospitals, highways, public markets, water systems and other buildings that you see today. We are also laying down the financial payments infrastructure for our country. Our aim is to also become and truly earn the name “Digital Bank of the Philippines” with respect to providing electronic banking and payment facilities especially to the Filipino public that we both serve.”

BIR commissioner Caesar Dulay also lauded the electronic payment channel which he proudly demonstrated as part of the agency’s thrust to capitalize on state-of-the-art technologies to aid in its tax collection efforts.

The PayTax Online complements the BIR Electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS) and the Electronic BIR Forms (eBIRForms) where taxpayers prepare and file tax returns. It completes the electronic or online tax filing and payment process.
